Next up: The Night Off

Next up: The Night Off

Next time on the LadyLike Book Club, we return to Battle Scars author Meghan O’Brien!  This time we read The Night Off, an incredibly readable book that is — fair warning — the dirtiest book we have read so far:

TheNightOffEmily Parker has a busy life over which she maintains iron-clad control. Raised by drug-addicted parents, she’s used to taking care of the people around her, to the exclusion of her own needs. But not tonight. After years of celibacy, she’s ready to pay for exactly what she wants: to surrender control, by having it taken away.

Having worked as a high-priced escort for years, Nat Swayne not only enjoys her job—she’s damn good at it. Dangerously sexy, she knows precisely how to fulfill the fantasies of women who enjoy her special brand of make-believe—all without ever becoming emotionally involved.

When their night of intense play turns into something more, Emily and Nat can’t help but pursue a connection in the real world. Unfortunately, old habits die hard, and love isn’t always enough.

Uh huh!  Yeah!  This is, to put it gently, a kissing book.  Ahem.  Ahem hem.  Our listener who shared with us that these books served as a particular kind of aid?  YOU’RE WELCOME.

APTROHOur next book is And Playing The Role Of Herself, by K.E. Lane, as recommended to us by listener Macaruchi.

Actress Caidence Harris is living her dreams after landing a leading role among the star-studded, veteran cast of 9th Precinct, a hot new police drama shot on location in glitzy LA. Her sometimes-costar Robyn Ward is magnetic, glamorous, and devastatingly beautiful, the quintessential A-List celebrity on the fast-track to super-stardom. When the two meet on the set of 9th Precinct, Caid is instantly infatuated but settles for friendship, positive that Robyn is both unavailable and uninterested. Soon Caid sees that all is not as it appears, but can she take a chance and risk her heart when the outcome is so uncertain?

We just hope smooches are certain.

Thanks to Macaruchi for the rec!  We’re always happy to see reader submitted books on our LadyLike Reading List.

Want to read before you listen?  Pick it up via the Amazon links below and we ge the tiniest amount of money that we can spend on more books.

BSB_The_Locket_and_the_Flintlock_lgOur next book is The Locket and the Flintlock by Rebecca S. Buck.

Will the masked outlaw who stole Lucia’s locket also claim her heart?

When Miss Lucia Foxe is robbed by a band of shadowy highwaymen, she does not realize this frightening event will change her life forever. Her brave quest to retrieve her stolen locket brings her into close contact with the thieves and their dashing and fearless masked leader, Len Hawkins. But there is more to Len than meets the eye. Beneath the robber’s mask lies a woman who, in her heart, is not really so very different from Lucia.

As their unlikely love grows against the backdrop of the poverty and violent protest of Regency England, Lucia learns how much more there is to the world than her upbringing has taught her. Len flirts with death every day, and eventually, an attempt at exacting revenge on her cruel father threatens to snatch her from Lucia’s arms.

Will Len survive her encounter with death and avoid the retribution of the agents of justice? And can respectable gentlewoman Lucia love Len enough to sacrifice everything she knows?

Hopefully!

aahOur next book is Above All, Honor by Radclyffe.

In the first in the Honor series, Above All, Honor introduces single-minded Secret Service agent Cameron Roberts and the woman she is sworn to protect—Blair Powell, the daughter of the President of the United States. Cam’s duty is her life and the only thing that keeps her from self-destructing under the unbearable weight of her own deep personal tragedy. However, she hasn’t counted on the fact that the beautiful, willful first daughter will do anything in her power to escape the watchful eyes of her protectors, including seducing the agent in charge. Both women struggle with long-hidden secrets and dark passions as they are forced to confront their growing attraction amidst the escalating danger drawing ever closer to Blair.

From the dark shadows of rough trade bars in Greenwich Village to the elite galleries of Soho, each must balance duty with desire and, ultimately, choose between love and honor.

The book’s not called Above All, Makeouts so we’ll see how this goes.
