Thanks to listener Ed for suggesting out next book — Parties in Congress by Colette Moody!

partiesThey say politics makes strange bedfellows…

Elated to secure her first paid political staff position, Bijal Rao is eager to focus her efforts on the election of her candidate to U.S. Congress. However, Bijal’s first unforeseen obstacle is her profound and unexpected attraction to their opponent—incumbent Congresswoman Colleen O’Bannon¬—who is outspoken, charismatic, and openly lesbian.

An even greater hurdle is the subterfuge and pretense that pervades the climate in Washington, D.C., where small missteps are readily painted as major gaffes, and lies are explained away as “in the public’s best interest.” During the heated campaign, both Bijal and Colleen struggle not to cross the lines of propriety—and perhaps more importantly, their party lines.

This episode was late when it was recorded, and now it’s even tardier!  I could make excuses, like a spider bit my chest so my boobs were in traction for two weeks, but who cares!  The important thing is that a few weeks ago Brenna, Foley, and Anne sat around and gibbered at you.

Come back in two and a half weeks (HONEST) when we discuss Lady Knight!  Can’t say we didn’t give you plenty of time to read it.

brokentrailsPhotojournalist Lainey Hughes needs a stiff drink and a loose woman after her last assignment, but what she gets is a good dose of Scotch Fuller, dog sledder and Iditarod veteran.

When Lainey takes the assignment, she’s ready to learn all about the confident yet vulnerable Scotch.  She’s ready to learn about dogs, and the thrill of an endurance race.

But are they ready to learn about LOVE?

Yes.  They’re ready to learn about love, y’all.

We enjoyed the heck out of this book, you guys — so much so that we barely had anything to say!  It was GREAT!  Read this book!  Really!  Do it right now!  I’ll wait.

Next up: Lady Knight

I have never been so excited to type this sentance: Next month we’re reading Lady Knight by L-J Baker.

1675-1Rhiannon, outcast and female knight, seeks a cause worthy of a chivalric hero in a medieval world of magic and misogyny. Eleanor, a wealthy widow, has given up all hope of finding passionate love and her perfect knight–until she meets Rhiannon. Aveline, a powerful priestess, needs a warrior for her secret mission of starting a holy war. She binds Rhiannon with double-edged oaths and a magical sword.

A love affair worthy of troubadours’ songs clashes with loyalty, intrigue, ambition, and war, tangling the three women in a web that perhaps not even Rhiannon’s sword can cut through.

It’s too bad I don’t like knights or ladies, or else I would be tremendously excited about this.
